Brainwaves
This mural is called BRAINWAVES, part of my ongoing MAGGOT BRAIN series—a fusion of hip hop and funk, painted with raw rhythm and electric soul. At the center is The Chauffeur, a robot MC named after the Duran Duran track that was playing while I worked. He's a chrome-plated emcee channeling frequencies from another dimension. Holding a sliced-up poster of the stunning Natasha Yi, the vinyl record—Rat Fink–inspired and full of attitude—feels like it’s alive, gripping the image with gritty reverence. I physically cut parts of the poster so it blends seamlessly into the piece, making it feel like he’s truly holding it. The light switch? That became The Chauffeur’s mouth—once I saw that possibility, the rest of the mural practically painted itself.
